What feels especially alive at Chuckwagon is its warm authenticity. The tender brisket and well-loved rib dinners come with sides that hold their own—fried okra with a perfectly crisp finish, or salsa bright with fresh, vibrant ingredients—and each plate carries the careful attention of wood-fired smoke and hand breading. It’s the kind of place where people appreciate the nuance behind those familiar flavors, a spot where the food tastes like it was made for gathering and storytelling.

Velma’s homegrown pride shines quietly through the meals and the moments around them. Whether it’s the subtle heat of a pepper burger or the tender generosity of the chicken fried steak, Chuckwagon creates a sense of belonging—a casual, comforting embrace in a small-town setting that invites return visits.

In essence, Chuckwagon Bar-B-Que & Grill is a lived-in kind of place, familiar but never taken for granted. Its appeal lies in the kind of warmth you find in the details and the steady hum of regulars knowing they’re in good hands, sharing food made with quiet passion and a touch of local spirit.

Delicious and gets pricier each visit. Very tender and delicious brisket. Good Sides and good variety.

The ribs were heavily smoked as I love them. The brisket was fall apart tender. Holy cow, the barbecue sauce was hot, sweet and had a wonderful Mexican flair. Cumin? The ribeye tacos were also delicious. The salsa was off the hook, outrageously good! Heavy on sun-dried tomatoes, onions and cilantro. The okra was perfect. Crispy not crunchy and a buttery light corn crust. The refried beans, wow super tasty could stand to be slow cooked longer and a tad bit thicker like abuela used to make. Lastly, the Ice-T was strong and of high-quality. Exactly the way I enjoy it. My new favorite barbecue, Mexican restaurant.

Got the chicken fry which was hand breaded and very tasty. The fried okra was very good. Others got bbq that they said was great & the Mexican food was also very good. Great place for good variety.

It's a good place to eat. You have to order at the counter. The menus are in front of counter but under in box. They have bbq and Mexican food and steaks . I had shrimp beef and pork rib fajitas. Awesome. The pork ribs were delicious would buy by themselves.

The fajita were damn near perfect. Large portion and fast service. Passed by several times and noticed the huge parking lot was always full around lunch and knew there was gonna be good food. The menu is Half BBQ/Mexican food.
